Two people have died and eight others have been injured in suspected gas attacks at Ace Adventures Resort in the Maldives, the Maldivian authorities said.
Maldives Police chief Mohannad Mohamad said a “large number of suspects” were involved in the gas attacks and that they were all being investigated.
The resort’s director of security, Abdul Reza Muthanna, said the resort’s main gas station was evacuated due to the gas attack.
“Our gas stations were evacuated because of the gas blast.
There are no casualties,” he said.
“We have also evacuated several other gas stations and hotels.”
According to the Maldive government, at least three gas bombs were dropped at the resort on Thursday.
Mohamad has said he was “shocked” by the gas blasts and that he would ask the international community to help investigate the attack.
