A Florida man who lost his pet rat has been reunited with his pet after it became stranded on a beach.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) says the pet was on the side of the road when it was found by a local resident and that the two have been reunited.
In an interview with WKMG-TV in Orlando, Chris DeMarco said his wife and his son were out fishing with their daughter when the pet, named Dolly, disappeared.
The couple went to the beach to check it out, and when they got home, they found the pet floating on the sand.
They called the FWC and began searching for the animal.
DeMarco says he’s been looking for the pet since the fall, and was told it was back in the waters of the Keys.
The FWC says it was lucky that Dolly wasn’t swept away, as that would have killed the animal and left it stranded.
DeMarcus says he hasn’t had any other pet owners since his rat was found.
The FWC said Dolly has had no injuries and that she is recovering from her injuries.
